More Americans voted in 2020 than in any other presidential election in 120 years. About 67% of eligible voters cast ballots that year, but that still means a third did not. That means about 80 million people stayed home. The lack of turn out in 2016 gave Trump the White House and now we’ve seen what a complete disaster of a presidency and ending that ended up being. The bottom line is that more Americans need to participate in our election process in this country to keep our democracy going.
There are 2 answers to our democratically held elections, one is to get out and vote with registered voters and the other is to register more voters so that we have a better representation of the voting public. I am writing this blog in concern for our next election in November of 2022, we can’t afford to lose the senate or the congress to Republican leadership which would send us farther into the dark ages with more restrictions on women’s rights and other policies which would damage our climate and our standing in the world.
